
The War Memorial Theatre is a state of the art 500-seat theatre in the heart of Gisborne, New Zealand.
Originally built as a community dance hall, it opened in 1957, was converted into a theatre in 1975, and redeveloped in 2015.
War Memorial Theatre is a Proscenium arch, with raised stage, fly tower, orchestra pit, grand piano and full technical capabilities. Six well appointed dressing rooms with toilets and showers, and backstage green room with kitchenette. Loading dock. Catering kitchen.
Seats 362 in the Stalls and 138 in the Circle. Fully air conditioned, with licensed bar.
The stunning foyer with the "Field of Poppies" feature ceiling, is available to book for functions and events.
The War Memorial Theatre is fully wheelchair accessible. Our venues are members of the Hapai Access Card, and our staff have received training on serving customers with a range of accessibility needs.
